9. Using the Zoom Tool from the tools palette, drag the magnifying glass over a smaller section, it will zoom in and you're ready to draw, using the original layer as a guide! To do this, click on the tool and hold down the mouse button until you have surrounded the desired area.
10. This shows what you should see in the enlarged JPG. We’re now ready to trace.
11. Lets do some drawing! For the Taz logo tutorial I have completed most of the tracing, but have done no “cleanup” yet. We have zoomed in on the unfinished hand and will use that for the tracing step. All the rest is the same, just keep repeating the steps as you go around the piece. Click on the Pen Tool, and make a click along a straight area. Then click again, around the corner, but this time HOLD DOWN THE BUTTON.
12. Once you are close, or right on, release the pen tool. You’ll notice the handles are visible, which allows you to manipulate the line still. Select the Direct Selection Tool (White Arrow) from the toolbox and grab the end of the line you just made. You will see that you can change the shape by dragging it. Or, you can click on the center of the line, highlighting the handles, and grab a handle to change the shape.
13. First, try drawing the forearm (already done in the illustration). Then, select the Zoom Tool, zoom in by sweeping across the open area between the two lines you have made. Then select the Pen tool, and click on each of the ends of the two lines you have drawn. A curved line will appear.
14. Now select the Direct Selection Tool (White Arrow) and drag the handle around until you are please with the curve. Voila!
15. New line! For the purpose of learning, when you draw the line, do not join exactly, but miss a little on the second click. Next frame will show how to join the lines.
16. Notice the gap in the lines. This will happen for various reasons, don’t worry. Just remember that in the end, the plotter will need all lines to join each other to cut a mask.
17. Zoom in, and select the lines that are gapped, and Control Click or Right Click to pop up the menu. Choose JOIN, the computer will join the lines for you!
